The cute and sexy starlet Lucy Hale has admitted to feeling awkward and weird on the occasion of her audition for Fifty Shades of Grey.
The movie is based on the erotic BDSM thriller novel by E.L. James. The book contains scene after scene of sex and extreme acts of intimate play.
Lucy felt a little uncomfortable doing all the shenanigans expected of her in the audition for the movie which is a sort of Kama Sutra for modern times.
“It actually was just me [in the audition]. It was a two-page monologue of exactly what you would think it would be,” Hale told MTV News.
“Very uncomfortable, but it was sort of one of those things where you just had to go for it or you’re just gonna look lame — hopefully, I didn’t look lame.”
The Fifty Shades of Grey novel is all about a sadomasochistic bond that gets forged between a college-going girl and the head of a large conglomerate.
The way the two explore each other’s erogenous (and erroneous) zones is not something for the prudent or conservative. It is indeed mind-blowing stuff.
In its exploration of sex as a playful thing, it exceeds many bounds normally reserved as limitations by our hidebound society.
The actress said that it was a very disturbing audition and that she was either supposed to just go ahead and do it or make an ass out of herself.
“I think any girl in my demographic would have loved to be a part of it,” Hale said. “Mainly, I was just interested in doing something risky and doing something a little different than my character on ‘PLL’ so it took me out of my comfort zone.”
Hopefully, she did it just right. In the past, Lucy Hale has acted in How I Met Your Mother and CSI: Miami. She has quite some experience under her belt although she is still so young. However, it was later on discovered to her disappointment that she had not landed the role.
Instead Don Johnson and Dakota Johnson got the roles for the company boss and the pretty young thing in the movie. Several other stars who got to read the script also felt that it exceeds the limits of decency and propriety.
One of them even said that the word “sperm” was employed so many times that she felt that it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to play the girl in love with an elderly man.
After all, when you have family and friends, how will you face them after starring in a film that approaches explicitly pornographic dimensions?
