Xbox 360 Upgrade to Xbox One

After launching a cheaper Kinect-less Xbox One version that put it on par with Sony’s PS4 when it comes to price, Microsoft is now taking additional measures to convince even more people to buy its newest gaming console. A NeoGAF user discovered on his Xbox 360 that the company will offer him $75 in credit that can be used for games, add-ons, movies and other purchases when upgrading to the Xbox One.

The offer is valid through July 31, but it only targets certain users in the U.S., which means not all existing Xbox 360 owners may be eligible for the free credit. In order to find out whether they qualify for the promotion, Xbox 360 users have to turn on the console and connect to Xbox Live.

Chosen Xbox 360 buyers who receive the invitation will be able to order an Xbox One console for full price, at which point they will receive a code that can be used on other goods – they’ll be able to redeem it until October 15, 2014, and the credit will expire on October 15, 2015.

It’s not clear at this point whether the offer will be available in other regions.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft is trying to convince more customers to buy the Xbox One. In late January, the company offered $100 store credit towards the purchase of the Xbox One to Xbox 360 and PS3 owners who were willing to trade-in their old consoles for Microsoft’s brand new Xbox.
