Kylie Minogue recently discussed her role in the upcoming Commonwealth Games. She also spoke about her late ex Michael Hutchence.
Kylie Minogue has seen so much in such a short span of time. Her bout with cancer was such that she emerged a fighter and survivor from the deadly illness.
And her #1 hit singles such as “Fever” and “Put your Hand on your Heart” made millions swing and dance to their funky beats.
46-year-old Kylie is now being given the honor of singing and performing at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games which will be held in Glasgow.
The date has been set for next month. She will belt out about half a dozen songs or so. She has been on a downward spiral in recent times as far as her musical weathervane is concerned.
So it is hoped that this move will act as a stimulus to her pop singing career. Kylie may be the best in the UK, yet she is not as popular or world-famous as some of the other star players (Rihanna and Beyonce come to mind). With this performance due next month, Kylie has a chance at fame.
A source told the Mirror: "Kylie is putting all her eggs into one basket. She was delighted when her management pulled off this high-profile concert.
"Although she's huge in the UK and elsewhere, she's never fully managed to achieve global status like Beyonce and Rihanna."
Meanwhile, there are other ghosts of people who have died who continue to haunt Kylie. One of these is Michael Hutchence of INXS. The rock star was said to be the most charismatic person Kylie ever met.
There was simply no one like him in her life. And his tragic death by suicidal self-asphyxiation many years ago was a shock to her. She began seeing Hutchence towards the end of the 80s.
Then he left her for Helena Christensen. Kylie still remembers him in kind words and the merest mention of his name brings tears to her eyes.
"It's a mixture, a mixture of emotions and memories," Kylie Minogue said in a recent interview. "It was a great love and true heartbreak. I had so many firsts with him."
She has all sorts of melting memories and emotional moments that she spent with him while he was alive. And his death was the worst thing she can think of. He had shown her so many things as a lover and friend.
Her first baby steps as a star and celebrity had been taken in the shadow of Michael Hutchence. And his suicide at the age of 37 broke her heart like never before.
