California may get divided into Six States

California which is a major state of the USA may get divided into six regions in the near future.

The “Six Californias” petition had close to a million signatures on it. And it affirmed Silicon Valley’s Tim Draper’s idea of splitting up the state of California into half a dozen sectors. The capitalist Draper wants to create areas that are more manageable, more growth-oriented and more progressive in their outlook.

As for the three-pronged goal of the whole Six Californias drive, it is: debt redistribution, end of taxes and finally the creation of micromanaged governments that are accountable and fulfill their duties in a more mature way.

In the beginning, it was termed a hoax and a media circus event. But now, after the signatures have gone sky high on the petition, the question is seriously being considered for the elections when they do occur two years from now.

Besides, the majority of Californians are seeing obvious benefits in the six states division of the large region. At least four of the six states would only gain from the bargain.

The initiative is meant to produce governments that are on a smaller scale and much more efficacious not to mention constituency favorites. It is all being done in order to make the common man feel more at home in his region and with his government.

Draper, who is a venture capitalist par excellence, is not unaware of the fact that California is a mess and that it needs good governance. While the budget is mostly for education, the state has failed to produce outclass educated individuals.

The same goes for the penitentiary system. The utmost is spent on the upkeep of prisons and yet the criminals keep doing the same crimes when they are released.

Draper said, “We pay among the most for prisons, and we are among the highest recidivism rate.” And then there is the poverty conundrum.

Even Texas does better than California in all three markers: education, crime & punishment and economic prosperity.

It’s a dismal record that lies before the people so they have decided to gather together in order to affect a change in the status quo. And Tim Draper is the man who will spearhead that change.
