Though Vanessa gave up on a role that won Helle Berry the Oscar for the best actress, she still has no regrets
Though it might be hard for us to believe, yet the truth is that there is nothing about Helle Berry’s role in Monster’s Ball that is a source of regret or envy for Venessa Williams who was the first choice for this role. Many people had wanted to why she gave up that role which was later taken up by Helle Berry and now she finally reveals the explanation for her decisions. She is a good actress and has given several outstanding performances including the ones in "Dance with Me" and "Ugly Betty." And she not only made a name for herself in the films and the television but also gave a big shot to her music career where she presented a hit one after another and we can’t really say how much we love her for her signature "Save the Best for Last." And her starring roles on Broadway are the recent talk of the town.
Surprisingly, with all this successful and diversified portfolio, it is hard for us to imagine her as a mother of four but in "Oprah's Master Class” she lets out her secret on how she managed to balance her career along with her duties and responsibilities as a mother. Talking about this, Venessa says "I've given up a lot of things because I was pregnant or I had kids. That was my priority." In her life she hasn’t faced many regrets particularly regarding her career but giving up on the role in Monster’s Ball which later jumped on to Helle Berry was a huge decision but not one that left enough choice to her as she says “There was one offer that I got to do 'Monster's Ball,' and I had just given birth to Sasha.” But at the end of the day, she says she's content with her decisions. "I do what I do, and I make the choices that I do, and I'm happy where I am," Williams says.
She is careful not just with her children but has maintained strong relationships with both her ex husbands, Ramon Hervey and retired NBA player Rick Fox. She claims to have been really close to them both and at one time they were so tied up together that it was practical to say that they were really living together. She laughs as she recalls this one segment from her life saying “There was one point after I had divorced for the second time that I had one ex-husband living downstairs and one ex-husband living in the guest room while the kids were all still in the house. It got so comfortable that the two ex-husbands took the kids skiing together while I was shooting in Miami, alone.”

Another thing we love about the actress who gave up on Helle Berry’s role is the fact that there wasn’t much drama created over her divorces. "You have to get over the anger and the resentment and again, the dream not happening," Williams says. "It's important for your health and the health of your kids."
