It was clear that Apple will announce the new iPhone 6 somewhen in September. Now we have a day. At least this is what Re/Code is saying. Apple is supposed to hold the iPhone 6 event on September 9.
September 9, 2014 is a Tuesday, so that checks out. The fact that Re/Code has big reputation as it has emerged out of the AllThingsD venture.
If Apple does things like in the past, then the new iPhone 6 would go on sale on Friday, September 19. It would be perfect timing for Apple to maximize the holiday quarter for iPhone sales. Rumors though say that the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 has production issues and might come later.
If true than the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 goes on sale first, putting pressure on early adopter not to jump the gun and wait for the larger iPhone 6 that maybe has more performance as well besides the bigger screen.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
