The NBA star, Greg Oden, was apprehended by the law for his role in an assault attempt on his girlfriend. The battery case caused the player to end up in the custody of the law enforcement authorities.
Greg Oden supposedly punched his girlfriend in the face. Talk about taking your anger out on those who are weaker and smaller than you are! The policemen were informed regarding a scuffle in the Maple Bluff Place today in the afternoon.
According to the Lawrence Police Department, "officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 7200 block of Maple Bluff Place around 3:30 a.m. Thursday."
Upon entering the designated residence, they found a female victim lying on a bed with blood oozing from her facial features. Another female was close by and she was shouting and crying and screaming for help at the top of her lungs.

“He punched her in the face, my hand hurts and I just want to go home,” the woman told police.
This side witness told the cops that she was the injured party’s fast friend. Greg Oden had hit his girlfriend in the mouth. There were bruises, abrasions and areas of swelling on her mouth, nose and forehead. She was virtually a bloody mess.
There were drops and spattering of blood on the ground and settee as well as a toppled and broken plant pot. Oden’s girlfriend denied any first aid help and also said that she had fallen and gotten hurt.
She told police “she fell but was unable to advise when and where.”
This obviously was not the case at all as was evident from the poor and pitiable condition she was in. The victim was mostly unwilling to help the law and was adamant that there was nothing wrong with her.
A close acquaintance of Oden spoke of how there had always been loud rows between the basketball player and his girlfriend.
“Every time the two visit and go out, there is an argument to follow,” Oden's relative told police. But this time, things had gone too far and the fallout was not good to look at.
Meanwhile, when you hear Oden’s side of the story, he had been dating the victim since the past two years. They had decided to split about two months ago and the argument that escalated into outright violent behavior took place today.

“Things got out of control and I started to go after the victim,” Oden told police. He also revealed that his relative and his girlfriend's best firend tried to stop him beating her. But they can not hold him.
“I was wrong and I know what has to happen,” Oden told officers.

Greg Oden was in a calm and collected mood when he was arrested. His days as a regular player will have to be put on hold for awhile though.
