Rain will be an hour long TV series whose distributor is the Los Angeles-based firm Slingshot Global Media. Rain will also be the first ever TV series from Slingshot that was launched by former FremantleMedia topper David Ellender a few month ago. A private investment firm TPG Growth is financing Slingshot.
“We are extremely excited to be working on a beloved property with such a talented and hard-working actor as Keanu,” said Ellender. “This series will be the launch pad for the company and highlight our talent-focused, quality-based approach within the ever-changing and expanding television space.”
Keanu Reeves’ Rain will be based on Barry Eisler's best-selling book series. It will be an action drama series whose directors will be John Wick and Eisler. But a search for the writer of Rain is still under way.
The story of Rain will revolve around the main character of John Rain that will be played by Keanu Reeves. John Rain will be a contract killer who will kill people in natural ways. It means that the cause of death will look natural to the police.
So John Rain will be a hit man and due to this identity he will not allow anyone to ever get close enough to him. The series of novels by Barry Eisler that feature the character of Rain include: A Clean Kill In Tokyo, A Lonely Resurrection, Winner Take All, Redemption Games, Extremis, The Killer Ascendant, The Detachment and Graveyard Of Memories.
“As a huge fan of Barry’s work, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring his iconic character and incredible world to life,” Reeves said. “I’m looking forward to partnering with Slingshot on my first series, and reteaming with Chad and David.”
