Shatner pieces together an eye-opening look at the first two seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Star Trek’s legendary creator Gene Roddenberry has time and again been referred to as the Great Bird of the Galaxy which kind of seemed like it suited him because he was capable of making a lot of noise and crap about everything. It has been twenty long years since Star Trek: The Next Generation made its final TV voyage and now William Shatne, who is the face of the original series which set the fire to this all, has delved into the tumultuous birth of Capt. Picard and pals in William Shatner Presents: Chaos on the Bridge which is going to debut on Monday on HBO Canada.

Some candid interviews were taken with writers, producers, studio heads and cast members, and with all that Shatner was able to piece together an eye-opening look at the first two seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The series include everything that the Star Trek fans are used to obsessing over. From Roddenberry trying to make a comeback while also battling with his own personal demons to egos and infighting, there is everything to feed the mind.

The one hour documentary is written and directed by Shatner and is full of unvarnished insights and recollections from the likes of Paramount television’s then-president John Pike, series writers Maurice Hurley and D.C. Fontana, producers and spin-off shepherds Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, Patrick “Jean-Luc Picard” Stewart and many more.
