The 'iPhone 6' Could Be A Whole Lot More Expensive
Though everything about the iPhone 6 excites us at this point in time and every leak has us all drooling over our computer screens but we are really sorry to break that bubble because you might not like what we have here today related to the iPhone 6. It is something that we all had been waiting for since a very long time; the price of the iPhone 6. To some it all up, the price of the iPhone 6 is the highest that any iPhone has ever seen.
Most of the views were that the iPhone 6 would generally appear to be an overhaul of the existing iPhone 5s and the cost push up would be majorly due to the bunch of new features added. The price of the iPhone 6 came up back in April when Jeffries analyst Peter Misek revealed that Apple was negotiating with carriers to increase the price of the iPhone 6 by $100 compared to the 5s, which starts at $199 with contract. However, according to TechRadar, the iPhone 6 could be available for as high as $800 without a contract which is double than the original price of the first iPhone in 2007 when it wasn't subsidized by two-year contracts.
As compared to this, the current gen 5s starts at $649 without contract. Ever since the iPhone 3G appeared in 2008, we have all been used to the new versions of Apple's smartphones being available for $199 with a contract and so a direct jump to $299 is quite shocking. But there is no time to fret over the price as yet because we are not even sure when the iPhone 6 is going to be released. We had been hearing about Apple’s event on September 9th to unveil the iPhone 6 but new rumors have emerged which suggest that the launch could possibly be delayed.
Though we might not be so happy with the tremendous increase in price but we should keep in mind that it won’t be for no reason. There are some features which we think can possibly be the reason behind the increase in prices. The first very obvious one is the size of the iPhone 6. Both the versions have increased their sizes considerably as compared to the current 4 inch screen. And because the size is a major factor in increasing the price, we are right to think that the 5.5 inch phablet version would see the most increase in price.
Then the materials used on the iPhone 6 are also expensive. For instance the rumors are suggesting that the screen would be made from sapphire glass which is quite expensive as compared to the Gorilla glass. This material is also not so common in phones and is considered more luxurious because of it being stronger and more scratch resistant. The processor speed is also getting an upgrade and the phone is rumored to include an A8 chip which can play a huge role in the price increment.
