Miley Cyrus' homeless date is a wanted man. That puts a different spin on the homeless dude that Miley Cyrus introduced to the world at the VMAs. Jesse Helt, as is his name, has a charge of criminal transgression against him.
And he is currently wanted for skipping regular sessions with his probation officer. He is to be taken in custody by the law soon.
"Reportedly, he has returned to the Polk County area," Polk County, Oregon, Community Corrections Director Martin Silbernagel. "We will be attempting to serve him his warrant, at which time he will be taken into custody."
Jesse had accepted the award on behalf of Miley Cyrus at the MTV show. And Miley had supported the cause of millions of homeless individuals who were living the life of derelicts.
Helt accepted the best video of 2014 award "on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youths in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now."
"I've survived in shelters all over this city," he said. "I've cleaned your hotel rooms. I've been an extra in your movies. I've been an extra in your life. Though I may have been invisible to you on the streets, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight."
Miley is not having any of the criminal charges stuff though. She said that this was typical of the media which likes to obsess over stupid points of order while the larger issues remained unaddressed.
The media never fails to disappoint. You've chosen to go after Jesse instead of covering the issue of youth homelessness :(— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 26, 2014
The fact of the matter is that this man can face up to a year in jail on charges of burglary and trespassing. The police are looking for him in Oregon and he will be arrested for sure were an officer to come face to face with him there.
But Miley is adamant that she chose him as the poster boy for the rest of the million plus homeless people in America whose life was a living hell.
While they obsesses over one homeless mans legal issue lets help the other 1.6 million homeless youth http://t.co/VE6P9yfAVX— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 26, 2014
She said that we ought to be helping out the homeless instead of nitpicking and faultfinding. Think twice…it’s just another day in paradise for you and me.
But for those who have to go starving on the streets and don’t even have access to clean drinking water, life can seem one long nightmare.
Jesse’s mother also supported Miley in her camaraderie with her son and other pop stars such as Britney Spears and Madonna have joined the chorus too.
Miley may have her exhibitionistic side, but she is also genuinely concerned about the poor and downtrodden.
Miley posted a video on her Facebook page in which she asked her fans to help her "raise awareness and funds to end youth homelessness! This is just the beginning for me, but we’re going to get started now by focusing on My Friend’s Place, a homeless center for young people in Hollywood."
