With the arrival of the iPhone 6, the question for the execs at Apple Incorporated is: where to next?
“Wake me up when September comes!” So go the lyrics of a song by Green Day. And so when the critical date of September 9th, 2014 comes along soon, Apple heads including Tim Cook will be discussing the launch of the new iPhone 6 with a rapt audience.
It has been three decades since that troubled genius, Steve Jobs, first introduced the world to the Mac on this platform. That was of course a reformation in technological thought.
Today the expectations are even higher and the competition has become rabid by tomorrow’s standards. As for the teaser campaign started by Apple, it consists of a sine wave which lends a hint of health figuring somewhere in the mix.
Some see in the visual aid a finger on a button or a sundial-like device. Whatever it is, one thing is for sure and that is that it is mysterious in the extreme.
Furthermore, the cryptic innuendo doesn’t end there. The day and month that is portrayed as “9.9” when inverted stand for “6.6” which again indicated the iPhone 6 in a very clear and straightforward way.
The slogan “wish we could say more” leaves the viewer in a state of perplexity. Yet that is the style of Apple. To keep them wanting more (and guessing) is its very essence and existence.
The iPhone 6, if it does come out, will have near field communications as an intrinsic feature of its very structure. This is necessary for payment procedures.
Other versions will have bigger screens and an iWatch within the device to boot. The smart watch or wearable will act as a remote sensor and a bio-monitoring thermostat.
The fact that Apple doesn’t let out a single squeak about the top secret and confidential device means that they like to play hard to get (in a metaphorical sense of course).
The real revolution in rising expectations will officially begin on 9th September. For those who want to keep abreast of the situation, the only advice we can give is to watch this space!
