His eviction came as a result of allegations that he had sexually assaulted a college student in Milledgeville, GA. The suspension was later lifted after investigators failed to gather sufficient evidence to put him through trial. Though his suspension was later adjusted to four, Ben argued that it was unfair for the officials to suspend Ray.
According to The Baltimore Sun, Ray was suspended on Monday when he was captured by a surveillance camera punching his girlfriend, Janay Palmer in an elevator of a popular casino. While briefing Baltimore reporters, Ben said that though Ray is in his prayers, his main concern was the next game that was scheduled on Thursday. He argued that the sudden shift of focus was due to the great pressure the team was facing.
in other news, Ben stated that he is still swore after suffering a hit from Courtney Upshaw during their clash with Ravens last Thursday. Courtney hit Ben in the chest in a run that left the steeler breathless. ESPN reported that the outcome earned Pittsburgh a 15 yard penalty. However, steelers found themselves on the loosing end because they only managed to get 6 scores against Ravens' 26.

Ben argued that the hit can only be compared to another that he got in 2006 from Bart Scott who was playing for Ravens back then. Concerning Courtney's fault, Ravens coach, John Harbaugh defended himself by pointing out that it was not possible to stop his player from making such a fault because it was unavoidable due to the speed at which he was running.
