McDonald’s free coffee is actually a ploy by the fast food giant at image-making for its McCafe brand.
For the remaining half month of September, McDonalds will be offering complimentary cups of coffee along with its fast food orders. This is all a part of the campaign kick-started by the Golden Arches eatable factory to brighten up its image and make the “M” word more compatible with positivity and healthiness.

Everybody knows that the fast food conglomerate has been the target of all the health scares and nutrition nuts on the planet.
From Morgan Spurlock’s acclaimed book “Super Size Me” all the way to blaming the Big Macs for spreading obesity and ten thousand other diseases of civilization, McDonalds has taken its brunt of the burden yet come out unscathed since people just can’t resist the delicious and yummy taste of its juicy burgers and scrumptious French Fries.
Now healthier alternatives such as salads and other foods have entered the menu. As a part of this “healthy wealthy” campaign Micky D will be offering free cups of coffee alongside the breakfast orders till September 29th.
Part of the reason for this new freebie situation is the economic crunch which has badly affected McDonalds. And then there is the obvious competition coming from its main rival in this matter: Starbucks.
Furthermore, McDonalds will be launching its McCafe brand of coffee in stores throughout Canada in partnership with Kraft Foods. It’s been half a decade since McDonalds began its coffee drive.
Among its specials in this category may be included:
- Mocha Latte,
- Iced Coffee,
- Hot Java and
- other Espresso liquid consumables.
The health initiative is based on the dictum that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And since there is no American who can go without a cup of steaming coffee at the start of the day, McDonalds has begun this scheme.
There are other troubles brewing for McDonalds including a meat scandal which took place in China as well as negative press for its artery-clogging meals. Maybe this drive will overcome flagging sales and the loss of image that the Golden Arches establishment has suffered in recent years.
