The adoption rate still remains below the iOS 7 of last year
It has only been a day since we have received the iOS from Apple and it has already managed to get a 14 percent adoption rate. At least that’s what mobile analytics firm Mixpanel says. There was an adoption rate of exactly 14.22 percent at 6 a.m. PT on Thursday. And when the OS was launched at 10 a.m. PT Wednesday, the results from Mixpanel showed an adoption rate of 0.53 percent and we are suspecting that this result included the beta version which was already available.

However, whatever the case is the near 14 percent adoption rate within the first 24 hours is something that is quite impressive. But if we compare this with the launch of the iOS 7 last year, it is slightly less impressive. If we can recall, the iOS 7 was launched back in 2013 on September 18 and at that time Mixpanel had revealed an adoption rate of about 15 percent before the day had even ended. This rate soared up to 38 percent just a day after the iOS 7 was officially released.
We still have plenty of time on our hands to check how the adoption rate of the iOs 8 rises as time goes on. It doesn’t come as surprising that the iOS 7 managed a higher adoption rate than the iOS 8 because the iOS 7 was a highly publicized release as compared to the iOS 8.
