Tavis Smiley along with professional partner Sharna Burgess performed last time on Monday night on “Dancing With The Stars” and he blames his busy schedule for quick departure.
Many contestants took a sigh of relief when the second elimination round of the Dancing with the Stars came to an end. On the show’s season 19, Tavis Smiley took a final bow along with his partner.
Tavis Smiley is currently on a book promotion tour and is touring the country. He blames his book promotion tours because he didn’t get much time to practice for the show.
He said that his competitors had 35 to 40 hours a week to practice. Whereas he only had 10 hours to practice in his last week. He said when you compare 40 with 10, then that is a big gap and this is why he was eliminated from the show.
He said when you look at their schedule, you will see that over the past week, they had to travel to five different cities from Tuesday to Saturday. This was all because of the promotion of his new book.
He said that they were only able to fork out 10 hours for their rehearsal sessions. He thinks that if they had two or more weeks when the tour ended, then they definitely would have had a good chance of winning on Dancing with the Stars.
He said that if you don’t give time to such a beautiful art, then you aren’t going to have a chance of winning. He further said that dancing is all about practice.
“I think that if we could have survived two more weeks when the tour ends, we really could have made a run at this,” Smiley said. “It disrespects the art-form of dance when you don’t devote the time to it.”
The more you practice, the better you are at it. This is why they weren’t able to progress in the show and if they had more time, then they definitely would have had a good chance of progressing through the elimination rounds.
Burgess has time on her hands now and now she has diverted her attention towards designing. She is a professional dancer. And she is used to design her costume’s for each episode of Dancing with the Stars. Now she has a bigger opportunity on her hands and she can progress as a creative designer.
“[Designing] is definitely a passion of mine…I sort of use [DWTS] as my outlet for that, but it certainly is something that I’m looking into,” Burgess said.
“Designing is something that I’ve been talking about with some people and probably just going to start with more a fitness wear line, but then I want to get into shoes and couture because that’s what I love the most.”
