The Ryder Cup 2014 is definitely a special time for golfers to test their skills against the highest standards.
It is an event that proves that golf is a golden game. The competition is between the United States and Europe. In other words, the New World and the Old World come face to face in their mutual commonalities and differences. And there is a sportsman spirit indeed on display on the golf links. The supreme winning side will have international acclaim as a feather in its cap. It is the 40th time that the competitive event is taking place in all its glory. Scotland is the avenue for this year’s round of gameplay. It will be rabidly viewed on the boob tube since patriotism is at stake between the Yanks and the Euro-Freaks.
Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and many more great champions will be giving it a jam at the tournament. So turn on your TV set and tune in today for a solid hour of entertaining golf putting. It is a game of balance, poise and cold, calculated aims taken with the shaft and dimpled ball kept in mind.
The site of the event will be the Gleneagles Hotel which is located in Perthshire, Scotland. From today all the way until two days in the future, this cool event will set hopes alight and prove to be a really interesting situational sports extravaganza indeed.
NBC and the Golf Channel will feature live coverage of the event for the viewers’ pleasure. While golf is a loner’s sport, this time around it is all about Team USA and Team Europe. Thus cooperation and collaboration will play a crucial role in the playoffs.
The event of Ryder Cup occurs every two years so it is eagerly awaited with wide eyes by the fans of the gilt-edged elitist game. When the top-tier players from around the global village team up to compete, it makes for a thriller of a show alright.
Over 72 hours, 28 matches will get played and the wheat will be separated from the chaff. Team Europe has a chance of making it 50:50 and thus reaching a tie or by sheer effort winning an extra point and thus grabbing the trophy.
On Friday, that is today, four matches were held in the morning and four got played in the afternoon. The captains of each team will choose the right players for the right moments in time as the game’s duration extends into the next two days.
The second day is a selfsame repeat showdown of the first day. Thus Saturday will be no different from Friday. However, on the third day, that is Sunday…there will be a dozen matches to decide the final victor posse. One of the captains of the teams has expressed his concerns regarding the fatigue factor.
"I am concerned about how much these players are playing before they reach the Ryder Cup," Tom Watson tBob Harig of ESPN.com. "Two years ago I made my point to [PGA of America president] Ted Bishop and to Tim Finchem about a week off between the end of the FedEx Cup...as I said these players are playing seven out of eight tournaments or eight out of nine tournaments in a row."
Of course, by staying in the outside environment and taking all that constant heat from the sultry sun not to mention the constant bombardment of the elements, the players will get world-weary. However, that is the way it is and it cannot be helped. Besides, these seasoned players are getting paid in the scads for staying put on the field.
The match will be tough indeed. It will hone the abilities of each warrior to a razor blade. And then will come a time when the men will have to be separated from the boys. Some will keep going while other will just hit the wall and remain behind in matters of capability and class.
The gamble is a very narrow one. And all bets are being put on either Team USA or Team Europe. May the best team win! Players such as Bubba Watson and Patrick Reed not to mention Zach Johnson face bets on their delivery on the links in an ever decreasing fashion.
It’s all about reputation and some players have built their career to the point where they have earned a name as a devastating force. However, others have not had the same amount of luck or let us just say they have not put enough pedal to the metal and so they have faltered and been left behind.
Whatever the wagers that are placed on the outcomes, the game will be fun to watch from the confines of your living room. As you switch on the television and pop open a can of beer and sit down with your eyes glued to the screen don’t forget a bowl of popcorn to munch on all the while.
Golf is such a game that it will have you going crazy as far as involvement in the ins and outs of it is concerned. Enjoy the match and pick your sides…the US of A or European Union…the choice is entirely yours!
