The company was unable to receive a response from the actor.

Larenz Tate is being sued by American Express for almost $60,000, according to the latest report by TMZ. Documents obtained exclusively by TMZ show that AMX has made several attempts to collect the credit card debt from Larenz Tate, but have been unable to collect the money.

Tate, who is known for his role in "Menace II Society" has spent a good portion of his money trying to impress women according to reports.  Up until now he has been able to keep the rumors out of the headlines.  According to TMZ the Chicago native owes American Express $57,912.85; which is not a small amount by any account.

Tate’s roles in 1990s gangster movies, such as "Dead Presidents," and earned his place as one of the most popular and most talented black actors in Hollywood during his time filming the popular movies. Larenz Tate went on to please his fans in timeless movies such as "Love Jones," which also starred Nia Long, and in the biographical movie "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" as Frankie Lymon, alongside Halle Berry.

Earlier this month Tate responded to rumors that he might be joining the TV show "Scandle'' by saying, “I got to say that ‘Scandal’ is an incredible show, but there's been a lot of hearsay. There’s nothing that's in stone. If there were a situation where I could go and do a character arc, I'd love to go and do something with them, but I'm really happy with the show ‘Rush’ and hoping that we come back for a second season.”

The rather large debt to American Express had fans posting remarks on how to explain how he could have hiked up such a bill with American Express.

“Now, everybody knows American Express don’t play.”

“why would you spend almost $58k in one month with no way to pay and you’re not dying? Don’t use a charge card if you want to carry a balance."
