The governor post had been opened for the first time since 2002. Although both Leticia and Patrick used to be friends in the past four legislative sessions, they came on swinging at each other in the TV debate.
Leticia told Dan that he needed a math lesson as the $5.4 billion cut from schools in 2011 was regrettable. She told him that when the budget was cut, 11000 teachers were let go and the size of the classes in the early grades was also decreased. Patrick reminded Leticia that of those 11000 teachers, most of them retired soon after they were laid off.
