Deion: 49ers players 'want [Harbaugh] out'

Former 49er Deion Sanders took time to speak about current head coach of San Francisco Jim Harbaugh after the 49ers win against the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend.

“They want him out," Sanders said Sunday of 49ers players' opinion of Jim Harbaugh. "They’re not on the same page."

Harbaugh disputed the report on Monday, saying he hadn't seen Deion or his other media colleague Trent Dilfer around the San Francisco locker room very much. Several 49ers teammates chimed in on Wednesday, coming to Harbaugh's defense.

“I heard rumors going on around here, but I don’t see it," tight end Vernon Davis said. "He’s a great guy with tons of energy. I don’t think there’s a better guy than him that’s made for this job.”

Colin Kaepernick spoke about the rumors surrounding his head coach. “I’d like to know who the source is,” he said. “When you get a source from that, then we can talk about that. Until then, that’s the media.”

Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Boomer Esiason also spoke out about Deion's reporting.

"I don’t think anybody should take too seriously Deion’s reporting," he said, "other than it’s probably some disgruntled defensive back on that team that is probably not happy about how he’s been treated, so let’s open up a locker room wound and throw it out there. 'See how we can make our coach squirm,' which is idiotic, in my estimation."

Sanders has said that his "sources wear uniforms, suits and ties."
