New Tubecore DUO comes with Intel Core i5.
Tubecore upgraded their very interesting home media box DUO. The system combines streaming technology with "old-school" vacuum tube pre-amp. In collaboration with Intel, the new DUO features a compact computing module that integrates Intel’s Next Unit of Computing. With support up to a Core i5 processor and Intel Graphics HD 5000 video, the new DUO runs Steam and XBMC and is the first complete home media system that can stream and store 1000’s of songs, movies and games.
Dimitri Furman, co-founder and COO of Tubecore Audio, said of the change to the Intel computers, “The move to support Intel’s NUC makes the new DUO a truly capable one box solution for all forms of streaming media.”
The new Tubecore DUO features upgraded internal electronics including Tubecore’s 48v vacuum tube pre-amp and 24 bit digital-to-analog convertor (DAC). Clean power is provided via a multi-stage filtered power distribution system which ensures distortion free playback at peak volume.
The new DUO will have two base NUC powered variants featuring either the Intel Atom processor E3815 or a high performance Intel 4th generation Core i5 4250U. The Core i5 NUC supports up to 16GB of memory and Dual SSDs for up to 2TB of storage.
In its base configuration, the new DUO is designed for consumers looking to stream games from their primary Steam Machines, while the Core i5 is configured to act as a standalone Steam Machine for the casual gamer.
The new DUO’s retail price starts at $649 and is being offered with multiple computer variations.
