Initially the hacker(s) behind the so called The Snappening said to leak the 200,000 Snapchat photos on Sunday, Sunday, Oct. 12. Well it did not happen.
The Snappening is still captivating the Internet despite nothing is happening since Thursday when a file of stolen SnapChat photos appeared.

After weeks of celebrity photo leaks refered to the Fappening the Snappening took over. The Snappening turns out to be not interesting so far.
As reported the Snapchat service got compromised via a 3rd party app. SnapChat has stated that the servers have not been preached. The copied photos are all from users that used a hacked thirdparty app.
Kenny Withers broke the Snappening story first and has updated his post yesterday saying that there is now a Snappening file containing 13GB full of photos and videos on Torrent download. Commenters on 4Chan say that apparently have downloaded the file that there are 5 to 10% nude photos.
The involved hackers are supposed to release a searchable website today containing the stolen Snapchat photos. Since a lot of photos might be from underage users (50% of Snapchat users are 13-17 years old), the hackers are hopefully aware of this and not publish compromising photos of kids. If they do it also would raise the level of criminal charges.
Kenny Withers trashes the hope of those wanting to see nude photos in the Snappening to be revealed on Sunday. He says: "because 90% to 95% of the images will not be nudes, and that is what they are most interested in. The images that are nudes will most likely be removed if they can’t verify the age of the person in the picture."

The 12.6 GB Snapping file is real and is traded via the Torrent network. The content seems though not exciting at all for 4Chan users. I expect the Snappening to fade away this week as 4Chan community loses interest.
