The premiere of season 5 of the Walking Dead was a roller coaster of thrill, disgust, praise, jubilation, fear and tears.

At the end of Season 4 of the Walking Dead, fans were left in anticipation and horror when Rick, Daryl, Glenn and Bob were led to Terminus. Their fates were left hanging in the balance. A lot of questions were in one’s mind that what will happen? Who would save them?

The season premiere of the season 5 of the Walking Dead was more than we could have expected. It not only brought its usual dose of gagging disgust and horror but also heart-filled emotions and moments that brought tears to our eyes.

When Rick, Daryl, Glenn and Bob were led to Terminus, we were horrified, especially when the three buckets labeled ‘Burn’ ‘Feed’ and ‘Wash’ were zoomed in and we could sense the fear. We could anticipate the end of the lives of our favorite characters as three other captives had their throats slit and bled while our heroes witnessed the slaughter and became expectant of the same end.

If that wasn’t enough Gareth came in with all his psycho streak and their was absolutely no hope. Bob resorted to begging for his life and Rick made his threats to Gareth when they were saved.

We had to stand up and applaud when Carol led a one person rescue team with an explosive start. She blew up a propane tank which killed multiple Walkers and sent half of them going into Terminus creating a chaos. If that wasn’t enough, Carol took extra measures and covered herself in the dead Walker’s guts (eww…) but effective as she approached Terminus and gave the guys a fighting chance and we saw the action as they fought the Terminians and escaped.

Thank God Gareth got eaten. Carol ran into Terminus’ Mary and a brutal fight ensued. We finally found out the truth about the facility. According to Mary, it was a sanctuary once offering refuge to people and saving them from the Walkers but as Gareth and Co. took over and they had to fight for their survival and the motto soon became “You’re the butcher or you’re the cattle,” which explained the ruthless slaughter. Mary ended up being the cattle as Carol left her to be eaten.

On the other hand, Tyreese was in the cabin wishing and praying that nobody had to die while the Walkers surrounded them and we could feel the tension just building up. Tyreese was willing to wait them out is only if Martin hadn’t tried to kill Judith and the poor baby was saved by Tyreese’s killing Martin and we couldn’t help but hail him the hero for saving Baby Judith.

The end has to be the most memorable part when Daryl hugged Carol followed by Rick who found out that it was Carol who saved them. He rushed to her and hugged her, that hug was just phenomenal. They didn’t say much to each other but his hand caressing her neck and hiding his face in the shoulder was amazing to watch.

The emotion on the tough guy was unexpected and refreshing. The reunion of the dysfunctional family definitely made everyone tear up. Tyresse and Sonya’s hug was in no way less emotional but the most beautiful and emotional reunion had to be when Rick rushed to hold Judith in his arms.

Broke us just up and we were crying as Carol became part of the group again and the family reunited. The end saw the last of Terminus and it made us feel really bad as the guys comforted Mary saying “It’s Okay.” It actually made us feel bad for Terminus.

We can only anticipate what is to happen next but the producers want this new found emotional side to continue in the characters and we want that to as long as the show keeps true to its gory originality.
