The outer space movie is titled Interstellar. The science fiction saga is both a visual treat and touches a delicate chord in everyone’s heart. Among some of the other people playing roles in the movie may be included Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck and John Lithgow.
“This is the first film I have made where the actual experience of the film is paramount to the audience,” Nolan said.
“You would think that’s the case with Batman movies but it’s not; they’re more dependent on the reaction of characters on screen. Interstellar is different. It harkens back to the direct experience films of 2001, where you’re not just experiencing it through the characters, you are lost in it.”
The narrative is about a group of scientists and astronauts who travel the universe in search of a novel home for humanity. As for planet earth, it is in ruins…devastated by environmental degradation and resource depletion. However, it is not all as bleak as it sounds.
The movie is about utopia, not dystopia in the Orwellian nightmarish manner reminiscent of 1984. The whole movie has a motif and that is that hope springs eternal in the human breast. In fact, it bears a striking resemblance to 2001: A Space Odyssey.
And while the entertainment value is there alright, the movie is not a schmaltzy touchy-feely addictive experience at all. The images in the film as evidenced by the props inspire a sense of wonder and awe among the audience members.
The forces of nature depicted bring a certain frisson of terror in one’s being. The scene of the spaceship in a hostile universe that is simply indifferent to the fate of its occupants certainly brings 2001: A Space Odyssey to mind.
The whole idea behind the movie was to inspire a feel for the human experience amongst the viewers. The fact that it is only human to want, love and touch, is shown in all its variety and panoply of processes.
Ultimately, the trio of Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain shine out as the main protagonists in the film which is a must-see for cinema buffs.
