Firm reveals how Windows phones will look WITHOUT Nokia branding after name switch

Three decades of Nokia phones finally comes to an end as Microsoft’s recent announcement has put a completion to the branding switch of Nokia phones to Microsoft’s name. Obviously this news would be depressing for the Nokia fans who must not pay close attention to the latest pictures which depict how the phone looks like with the new Microsoft branding. The news had come a long time ago that the Nokia banding would be removed from all the future phones by Microsoft and this week the news was confirmed as Microsoft officially announced that both the Nokia and Windows Phone brand names would be dropped in favor of just using Lumia.

This transition by Microsoft aims to change the entire branding to just Microsoft Lumia and this change has already been facilitated and it comes right on time for the Holiday season. So all Nokia fans should look out away for now since all the Microsoft devices are going to carry the name of the company in place of where Nokia used to be. The news was confirmed as Nokia France announced on its Facebook page on Tuesday as they wrote ‘We are on the verge of becoming Microsoft Lumia!’ The changes were the officially communicated publicly in a post on Microsoft’s Conversations blog where the changes were unveiled by Senior Vice President of Marketing for Phones at Microsoft Tuula Rytilä.

Rytilä reportedly said, “This is a very exciting time for us and for Lumia products. You might have seen that in the last couple of months, we have already made some name changes to our apps to better reflect that these apps now come from Microsoft. Our global and local websites are going through a transition as we speak and in the coming days our social channels will get a new name too - they will be called Microsoft Lumia. We would like to invite our Lumia fans to continue to follow us and always be up to speed with the latest device news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.”

No specific date was revealed in her announcement. Instead she only left things hanging in the air of anticipation by saying that the first ever Microsoft Lumia device would be launched very ‘soon’. She added: ‘This is of course a natural progression as all devices that once came from Nokia now come from Microsoft.’ She also finished her announcement with an important note in which she clarified that this new change certainly didn’t make the Nokia Lumia phones in the market obsolete. ‘Microsoft continues to sell and support the Nokia Lumia phones that are out in the market, such as the recently announced Lumia 830 and Lumia 730/735,' she said. ‘We will continue to honor customer warranties and provide world-class care services as before.’
