The Fault in our Stars features Shailene as a Cancer afflicted teenager who might die any day. Both the films were based on books and had a wide variety of teenage audience. Shailene is now known worldwide. She has come a long way from being nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the George Clooney drama The Descendants.
Shailene however doesn’t want her roles to be profiled in a specific category of teen drama. She wants to appear as a versatile actress. That might be possible with Oliver Stone’s upcoming biographical flick Edward Snowden.
Based on “Time of the Octopus” by Snowden's Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, and “The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man” by journalist Luke Harding.”
The movie tells the story of a NSA contractor Edward Snowden played by Joseph Gordon Levitt. Snowden leaked some classified documents which hailed him as a champion and a traitor among the people. Shailene is currently talking about playing the role of Snowden’s longtime girlfriend Lindsay Mills. A dancer by profession, she moved to Moscow to live with him.
The role is what any young actress would want to play and the opportunity is knocking at Shailene’s door. The film is due to start production in January by Moritz Borman and Eric Kopeloff in Munich. If Paradigm, Principato-Young Entertainment and Felker Toczek manage to land Shailene the role, she will be spending the winters in Munich.
