Ferguson broke out in vitriolic violence after officer Darren Wilson was acquitted of Michael Brown’s death.

He was let go free of charges against him for shooting an unarmed black teenager. Officer Darren Wilson who was a white police officer was recently allowed the benefit of the doubt when all charges against him were dropped. This led to riots in the St. Louis suburb and the main issue was the police and racism.

The violence and arson was palpable indeed. The district of Ferguson was soon engulfed in fire and general mayhem. Police used all the legit means available to disperse the protestors. Shops were looted too. After a lot of deliberation the grand jury had come to the decision that Darren Wilson was not guilty of manslaughter or first degree murder.

The sessions lasted 70 hours and over 60 witnesses were brought before the jury for questioning. According to WSJ, the decision was made due to the hard facts that were brought before the jury. It had nothing to do with what the public wanted or what the government had to say in the matter.

Gradually the whole nation had become involved and even President Obama had issued a statement to the effect that the situation was a symptom of broader trends that needed rectification. The use of force against protestors by the police which included the use of vicious weapons and Humvees was looked into.

The crowds of protestors gathered outside the police station in Ferguson and threw rocks at the police cars and even set one on fire. The police responded with smoke canisters and tear gas. Soon the riots spread causing more damage to shops and windows.

Police and the fire department worked round the clock to bring the whole conflagration under control. The family of Brown meanwhile are very disappointed by the decision taken by the grand jury. They have called officer Darren as the killer of their child. The legal system has to be changed according to the family of the deceased.

Most of the accounts differ as to what really happened when the altercation between Brown and Darren took place. Some of the claims made were recanted. And besides this it was not clear if Darren had shot Brown in self defense or out of sheer spite. Officers are allowed to use deadly force when they suspect that their life is in danger.

Controversy was the name of the game from the beginning. What was not clear was whether Brown had tried to wrangle with officer Darren or not. The justice department is itself carrying out an in-depth investigation into the whole mess. It’ll take some time but ultimately it will be figured out once the pieces are joined together.

Protestors even marched on Washington to demonstrate against what they perceived to be the height of injustice. According to Businessweek, the chaos that was unleashed on the town of Ferguson was somewhat like the lava erupting from a volcano. Brown’s mom was one of the protestors and she kept repeating the phrase “you all wrong, you all wrong” over and over again.

When the crowds were told to stop throwing rocks at the police or they will be subject to arrest, the result was that they raised their hands in a mock teasing manner or showed the policemen their middle fingers. Soon enough things went out of control and the shit hit the fan.

The question is how many black men will the white establishment kill? First it was Trayvon Martin and now it is Michael Brown. The list just goes on and on. According to NBCNews, Darren was dwarved by Brown. In fact, Darren thought that he was holding on to Hulk Hogan. And Brown threatened Darren several times calling him cowardly and taunting him to shoot him.

Darren admits that he was in a dilemma since he didn’t know what to do. The man in front of him was stark raving mad. So he shot him in self defense. According to Reuters, the protestors said that black lives mattered too and cried slogans of the killer of Brown being a murderer. It seems we always need to hear both sides of the story.
