Knight broke off their engagement after she claims he verbally abused her and her mother last weekend. Knight also told The New York Daily News' Chrisitan Red on Nov. 24 Canseco threatened to kill her and her mother:
"A month after former slugger Jose Canseco nearly blew his left middle finger off in an accidental shooting at his Las Vegas home, his fiancee, Leila Knight, says she is blowing him off for good, following an incident Saturday night in which she says Canseco verbally abused her, including making threats that he would kill her and her mother.
"'He got into an argument with my mom when he called her. I've never seen him so upset in my life. My mom went off on him about a lot of different things he's done to me.
"'He went absolutely ballistic,' Knight told The Daily News Monday. 'I've never seen him so aggressive. I was just trying to keep myself in the guest room. He kept coming in and getting in my face.'
"Knight says that Canseco eventually went into another room of the Vegas home they share together, and continued his menacing threats.
"'He started saying,'I'm going to kill you. I'm going to kill you mom.' He said that about 20 times,' said Knight. 'I got f-----g scared. I didn't know what he was going to do next. I locked that room that he was in. He tried to get in from all the other doors. He was basically breaking down the doors. I locked myself in a bathroom and called the police. He was threatening my life. I've never been scared of him before until then.'
"Las Vegas Metro Police officers responded after 'a female caller requested officers responded to an alleged domestic disturbance,' according to an email from a LVMPD spokesman.
"'Officers responded to the residence and determined no crime has occurred,' the LVMPD statement reads. Another LVMPD spokesman told The News no police report was taken.
"Knight said police 'were there to make sure it didn't escalate,' and that officers stayed at the home until a friend of Canseco's arrived. She added that Canseco never told officers that he didn't make the threats to kill Knight and her mother.
"Knight had dated Conseco since 2008, and has had previous issues with the one-time Bash Brother. In 2011, she filed a temporary restraining order against Canseco after he posted numerous derogatory tweets about her on Twitter.
"Knight said besides the recent verbal spat between Canseco and her mother, 'the final straw' was when Canseco recently agreed to be a pitchman for 'one of those really sleazy, late-night commercials for hooking up with Asian singles.'
"'I don't think any girl would be OK with that,' Knight said. She added that Canseco had been 'showing his true colors lately,' and that he has not stopped using steroids, a habit which stretches back to his playing days.
"Knight said Canseco uses the anabolic steroid Anavar 'to stay big,' and that he does testosterone replacement therapy.
"She said that she and Canseco had tried to start a family for over a year and had considered trying in vitro fertilization.
"Canseco, 50, did not return a call, but tweeted Monday that he would challenge Knight to a polygraph test. 'Sadly we live in a society of liars and extortion but a polygraph never lies. i challenge my x leila to a polygraph,' Canseco tweeted."
According to TMZ Sports, Canseco's blown-off finger was nothing more than a prank:
"The mangled finger that 'fell off' Jose Canseco's hand during a poker game WILL NOT be popping up on eBay -- 'cause the whole thing was a giant prank...TMZ Sports has learned.
"As we previously reported...the former baseball star blew off part of his finger last month while cleaning a gun -- but got it reconnected in surgery.
"Last week, Jose claimed the attached digit went rogue...tweeting, 'I was playing in a poker tournament last night and my finger fell off.'
"Disgusting. Funny. And totally untrue. Jose now admits it was a HOAX.
"We contacted Canseco about video he says he shot of the finger fail -- and when push came to shove...he had to cop to the prank. Jose says he cooked up the plan when he came across the fake finger in a Halloween store.
"As for the eBay auction he was pimping on Twitter --sorry,sickos ... the real deal's still attached."
