Rory McIlroy loved Golf more when he was a Kid. Heading to Augusta for the Grand Slam title, McIlroy goes over his priorities and his love for the game compared to the love he had in his childhood.
The pressure of the fame might be finally getting to Rory McIlroy. Becoming the face of the game seems too much to the young player whose love for the game in his childhood is the first thing that kept him playing according to the golfer himself.

Rory said in an interview with Telegraph that when he was a child, it was hard for him to stay of the course. Whenever his coach tried to send him home, he would end up crying. It was his love for the game that kept him dedicated and focused towards playing golf.
He feels like that has changed since he won his first title. He said there was a time when he couldn’t wait to get up and play golf and now he can’t wait for the weekend. His passion seems to have been limited. He still enjoys playing on courses with his friends and his dad. His priorities for the game have changed.
As a person, who has grown up modestly, he admits he has never worked. According to him, playing professional golf is not work. Nor is being the face of the game, he admits that Tiger Woods is the face of golf. Woods made golf approachable to people like no one else and he doesn’t want to take over anyone.
It is a great feeling to have his name put up with the players he has always looked up to but that doesn’t mean that he has excelled exponentially. He said that his career is more of a labor of love and his career was born out of it. Despite the great prize money that comes out of winning tournaments. It is actually his love for the game and his pride that motivates him.
So heading out now in Augusta, he knows what he must do. He must improve using length to take advantage of the par fives. He finished off 8th in the round for par fives. Although he performed better in the last two Masters, marginally better than level par for its four longest holes than the winner Bubba Watson but it’s the number that has him beat by Watson.

Rory said that he has to play the par fives smartly and keep it under twelve. Winning this tournament would definitely put him at the top spot. He will however have to work out whether he wants it or not.
