New iPhone Music App in iOS 8.4 Beta Revealed

Apple has seeded iOS 8.4 beta to developers. The most interesting new thing is the redesigned Music App. No hint yet on where the Beats Music Service will fit in.

Apple has redesigned the iPhone Music App in iOS 8.4. Developers have received the iOS 8.4 beta last night. It is expected that Apple will release iOS 8.4 ahead of the WWDC 2015 in June and at the same time launch the highly anticipated Beats streaming service.

The Music app has a new design that brings the user interface close to what iTunes offers on the desktop.. User can personalize playlists by adding their own image and description. Albums and playlists that users have recently added are now at the top of the library.

Discovering music with iTunes Radio has been improved. Users can now quickly return to their favorite stations in Recently Played. They can choose from a selection of hand-curated stations in Featured Stations, or start a new one from your favorite artist or song.

The new Music App MiniPlayer allows users to see what is playing and control playback while browsing their music collection. Now Playing has a new design that showcases the album artwork. In addition, users can begin wirelessly streaming their music using AirPlay without leaving Now Playing.

The Up Next icon in Now Playing reveals what next song is coming up. Users can reorder, add, or skip songs whenever they like. Users can now search from anywhere in the Music app. Search results are organized in categories and users can start an iTunes Radio station right from Search.

9to5Mac has released a hands-on of the Music App with screenshots.

It is not clear yet how the Beats Music Service will be integrated into the Music App. Apple is holding it back.
