Robert walked out on the interview because he thought that it wasn’t leading anywhere and his friends admit that he hanled himself with a lot of grace
UK’s Channel 4 News anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy had a scheduled interview with Robert Downey Jr. It was a part of The Avengers: Age of Ultron tour. The interview went south as Robert got up and walked out right in the middle of it and since then, it has been making the headlines.
Now Robert is yet to make a statement about it but sources got right into it to find out the cause of the walkout. Reason was the Guru-Murthy started to ask him questions about his past. She asked him whether he was still struggling with drug use. Robert went quite and said it was getting a little Diane Sawyer in the room and up and left.
His friends came to his aid on the situation. According to Independent, they said that the interview was supposed to be about the movie. Although his arrests on drug use and his troubled past has been public knowledge. There was no requirement for it to be brought up during the interview.
He is now in a part of his life where he has been clean since 2003 and attends Alcohol Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous regularly. He’s the guy who brings cakes for the group members, sponsors actively for several people. He is living the program. It is a part of his life.
To try to get him to talk about his past when he has come so far ahead was a low thing to do and according to his friends, Robert handled himself with true class. He didn’t react aggressively or broke down.
He said nothing and left saying that he didn’t see the point of the interview because he was there to talk about the movie and nothing else. His friends and fans support him in that and to them, his actions are most justified.
