Florida-based security company ADT Corporation announced a one-of-a-kind smart device for smart homes. Made in partnership with LG Electronics, the LG Smart Security is a sleek all-in-one high-tech device that works as a 24/7 monitoring system, capable of recording HD videos and controllable via a smartphone app. ADT calls it the future of smart security.
Easy to install, this sleek security device features ADT’s monitoring and video hosting technology along with a secure camera gateway platform. The device also works as a hub for other electronic devices. It’s also a plug-and-play device, which is a boon to connected homes. ADT plans to launch the device later this year.
“As LG smart technologies help drive the IoT, we see home security and professional monitoring as the connective tissue tying together the smart home,” said Byung-hoon Min, LG Senior Vice President and Head of its Convergence Audio-Video business. “By collaborating with a leader like ADT to create a unique connected home security product, we will deliver best-in-class product innovations and services to consumers.”
Additionally, ADT and Nest are working together to integrate Nest’s Learning Thermostat into ADT’s Pulse platform. The details of the partnership were not disclosed, but ADT plans to launch a new mobile application this summer. The new app will feature voice authentication and a new design and navigation. ADT’s current partners include IF (formerly IFTTT), Ford, and Intel.
