Crazy Gumball 3000 Rally is On its Way to Las Vegas

This year the Gumball 3000 rally will come to the United States. On Sunday the eccentric Rally started in Stochholm, Sweden.

The 17th annual Gumball 3000 is underway. Over 100 luxury sports cars are participating in a 7 day transcontinental tour from Stockholm to Las Vegas. From Stockholm the route includes overnight stops in Oslo, Copenhagen and Amsterdam, before all vehicles and participants are transported by air to Reno, Nevada, to continue on the drive to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

The rally's name is inspired by the class 70s movie The Gumball Rally. The movie in turn was inspired by a real coast-to-coast race called the Cannonball Baker race. In the 80s the Cannonball Run movie with Burt Reynolds agian picked up the story of a wild rally across America.

In past years the Gumball 3000 rallies have become notorious for speeding and traffic police in transit countries had their hands full. The Gumball 3000 rally has though grown up quite a bit in recent years. It has become a big charity event as well and attracts A-list celebrities. In the 2015 Gumball 3000 celebs including F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, David Hasselhoff, Tony Hawk, deadmau5, Tommy Lee, Dolph Lundgren and more.

The real stars are though the cars. The Gumball 3000 grid is including Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari F50, Pagani Huayra, McLaren P1, Tesla Roadster, E-Type Jaguar, Knight Rider's KITT and the DeLorean DMC 12.

The Gumball 3000 Foundation hosts charity auctions throughout the event, raising substantial sums of money to support multiple education al and recreational focused projects around the world, giving underprivileged youth greater opportunities in life and ensuring that the legacy of Gumball 3000 is both positive and lasting. Charity par tners include The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, The Tony Hawk Foundation, The Sir Simon Milton Foundation, and  the event has now achieved full carbon neutral status. 

Gumball 3000 is an Entertainment Group, founded in 1999 by British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper, with its headquarters located in London, England. It all began in May 1999, when Cooper invited his influential friends to join him on a driving adventure across Europe.
