  • Reynaldo Rey actor of ‘Friday’ and ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ passed away at 75!

Reynaldo Rey the veteran actor and comedian passed away in L.A. due to complications resulting from a stroke on Thursday.

The veteran comedian and actor Reynaldo ray died at the age of 75 on Thursday in Los Angeles. Rey had suffered a stroke last year and complications since then let to his demise. The news of Rey’s death was released by his manager Jeff Reed to the Daily Mail.

Rey was born in Oklahoma and descended from both African Americans and Native Americans. Rey lived in Los Angeles before he moved to the west and became part of the legendary ‘Harlem Theatre Group’ from where his career kicked off. 

Rey was famous for a comedy career spanning over many decades and his most notable works included the 1992 film ‘White Men Can’t Jump’, the 1995 film ‘Friday’ by Ice Cube and even the 1989 crime comedy fil ‘Harlem Nights’.

Rey starred more than 50 films throughout his career and has worked with other famous comedians such as Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor and stage mentor Redd Foxx.

Rey was also famous for his portrayal of the mailman in the 1980’s sitcom entitled ‘227’. Rey played the character of his namesake in the sitcom called ‘Ray’ and the show aired for 18 episodes. 

According to Jeff Reed, the comedian Rey passed away at the Kindred Hospital in Los Angeles. At 5:30 am Rey left the world of men while his wife was present at his bedside. Reed described Rey as a fun, hilarious and positive person who despite his illness always remained happy and tried to maintain his smile. 

Rey is survived by his family which includes his 96 years old mother, wife, two sons and a daughter.
