Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are mostly known for their acting skills but it was proved on Monday how good they are in fashion designing as well, when they were awarded with Womenswear Designer of the Year at CFDA annual ceremony for their luxury line The Row.

Council of Fashion Designing of America (CFDA) recognizes extraordinary contributions in fashion designing and has been presenting awards to the individuals associated with the industry since 1981. The 2015 event took place at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center and was attended by a number of designers as well as celebrities including Kim Kardashian West, Amanda Seyfried, Gigi Hadid and Joshua Jackson.

Ashley and MaryKate Olsen, who have honored this year at CFDA, showed a great amount of interest in fashion designing ever since they have got matured. Both the sisters possess very strong senses for style and have created several fashion lines over the years. They started a clothing line in collaboration with Walmart in early 2000 under the name of “Mary-Kate and Ashley: Real Fashion for Real Girls”. The line was aimed at the girls from 4 to 14 and included so many things like makeup, hair care products and perfumes as well.

In 2006, they launched their own fashion label “The Row” which was named after Saville Row in London. Their other fashion ventures include “Elizabeth and James”, a luxury fashion line inspired by their younger brother and sister, “OlsenBoye” created with J.C. Penney and “StyleMint, a more affordable and inexpensive line for females.

Ashley and Mary-Kate won CFDA awards in previous years as well. In 2014, they took home Accessories Designer of the Year and won Womenswear Designer of the Year award back in 2012.
