Kanye West came out to honor and behest the Fashion Icon award to his friend, colleague and fellow designer Pharrell Williams at CFDAs.
Named the recipient of the Fashion Icon by CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg earlier this year, the ceremony finally came to play. To honor the musician, singer, songwriter, producer and designer, someone somewhat equally talented had to take the stage.
It was all surprise when the mean guy, Kanye West took the stage to honor and give the award to Pharrell Williams. Kanye’s appearance at CFDAs surprised everyone including Pharrell himself.
Especially after a much ‘Kanye-ish’ speech that turned out to be pretty commending to Pharrell and his great talent and ability in the fashion world. Being new in the fashion world, Kanye called Fashion the hardest high school he ever went to but he thanked Pharrell for setting out the path and guiding him through it which is pretty hard since his wife has a fashion line of her own but it’s a man’s world on its own and Pharrell was the guiding light for Kanye’s fashion endeavors.
He topped off his speech by saying that Pharrell was his style icon which is hard to believe because he doesn’t dress half as cool as Pharrell but referencing to the recurring sketch, "Obama's Anger Translator," from Key & Peele, the Kanye joked that he was the "Angry Pharrell." Then he remembered that he probably should have used a better adjective to describe his idol since his late mother Donda West, who was an English high school teacher and he was embarrassing her with lack of proper adjectives.
So the Angry Pharrell then called on the ‘Happy’ Pharrell on stage to present him with the award.
The singer/designers then posed with their wives Kim Kardashian and Helen Lasichanh then posed for a cool picture giving out the cliché vibe.
