Vin Diesel unveiled the major attraction on Tuesday along with “Fast and Furious” co-stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham before it publicly opens on Wednesday.
Vin Diesel, who plays the key role of Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious film series, was excited about taking a ride on the newly installed attraction.
“It’s pretty surreal,” Diesel told media before the opening ceremony. “I am more excited than anybody to get on that tram. And I want to be in the front seat. And I want to know what these things feel like.”
“Supercharged” involves special effects and 3-D images which are projected on “world’s most expensive 360 degree screens”, making the riders feel that they are in the middle of the action and cruising along at a speed of 120 miles per hour and escaping through car crashes and gunfire. It all takes the riding experience to another level.
“I know when we were making it, it felt like we were creating something that I had never experienced,” Diesel said. “We employed all kinds of incredible technology. I’m really excited to get in there and feel it out and get that adrenaline pumping.”
It was not a typical red ribbon cutting opening ceremony. The whole cast including Diesel laid their hands on a massive bolt-cutter to slash the ceremonial chain. The launching ceremony also included car stunts such as a car raced out onto the ramp and crashed through a giant poster.
Tyrese Gibson also talked about the whole experience of six minute thrill ride.
“When you put people in a theater or (they watch) a blue ray DVD, they are watching in the comfort of their home. But to physically be inside a tram car and experience your favorite franchise as a theme park ride, it definitely raises the bar.”
