Facebook Messenger Signup Now Possible Without Facebook Account
  • Facebook Messenger no longer requires a Facebook account!

Everyone can enjoy the features of the Facebook Messenger and all they need is a phone number rather than a Facebook account.

On Wednesday the Android and iOS users could sign up for the Messenger app without having a Facebook account. If a mobile user does not have a Facebook account and they install the Messenger app they will see an option asking them ‘Not on Facebook?’ From there the sign up for the Messenger will only requires a name, phone number and a photo.

According to the officials at Facebook they have tried to create a messaging experience which is fun and easy in the form of the Messenger app. The option of signing up for Messenger alone as already been introduced in countries such as Canada, the United States, Peru & Venezuela. The update will be available to everyone around the world shortly.

The Messenger app has been a standalone since 2011 i.e. Facebook users needed to download the Messenger separately on their iPhone or Android phone to use it. Through the years Messenger has evolved as more than just a direct messaging app with features including stickers, photo & video sending, document sending, link exchange, group chats, voice & video calling etc.

Now people can use all of these features without having to make a Facebook account or the move may garner more users on Facebook, when users without a Facebook account start using the Messenger.

The Officials at Facebook shared they do not believe Messenger will ever be bigger than Facebook but it will provide their entire messaging features to the number of users who do not have a Facebook account or have deleted their account. Messenger has been downloaded about $1 billion times from the app store on Android devices.
