The third installment in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek franchise will be titled ‘Star Trek Beyond’.
Previously it was confirmed a third Star Trek film is in the making, however no other details about the film had been released. Justin Lin broke the secrecy when he announced the titled of the third upcoming J.J Abrams Star Trek film franchise to be ‘Star Trek Beyond’.

Lin will also be taking over the reins as director of the third instalment from original director J.J. Abrams and announced the news via Twitter.
On Twitter Lin wrote the next Starfleet voyage should begin along with a close up picture of a patch worn by the Enterprise crew. Lin revealed the title of the third film with the hash tag ‘Star Trek Beyond’. Justin Lin is famous for having directed four Fast and Furious films along with two episodes in the second season of the acclaimed series True Detective.
After Lin’s tweet, Paramount Pictures also confirmed the third film titled through their Facebook page. The page said ‘Star Trek Beyond’ has just been announced and so it is. The tweet by Lin was also shared by cast members such as Zoe Saldana, who is currently filming for the role.
Zachary Quinto also confirmed filming has started when he posted a few non-disclosing pictures from the set. Other original cast members such as Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin are all set to reprise their roles and have reportedly been filming for the film.

Sofia Boutella and Idris Elbas have also joined the Star Tre cast for the third film. Some reports suggest newcomer Idris Elbas will play the villain in the upcoming film. Star Trek Beyond is slated to be released in cinemas on the 8th of July 2016.
