The actor is anti vaccination and does not like the new bill.
This has been happening a lot lately, but in the past year especially, California has had quite a few problems with disease outbreaks due to parents not vaccinating their children. Some of these diseases include measles, polio, mumps, rubella, which are all completely preventable with modern medicine, all you have to do is vaccinate your children. The people who don't do that (often called anti-vaxxers) have found a sort of home base in California and they’ve grown and grown to the point where old diseases are now flourishing and causing major public health crises. So, California Governor Jerry Brown just signed a new mandatory vaccination bill, meaning it is no longer “optional” to vaccinate your children.

Well, Jim Carrey, who used to date Jenny McCarthy, is a staunch anti-vaxxer, has taken up a big problem with the new bill. While even Jenny has moved away from her beliefs, the Bruce Almighty star had a lot to say on Twitter:
"California Gov says yes to poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum in mandatory vaccines. This corporate fascist must be stopped.
They say mercury in fish is dangerous but forcing all of our children to be injected with mercury in thimerosol is no risk. Make sense?
I am not anti-vaccine. I am anti-thimerosal, anti-mercury. They have taken some of the mercury laden thimerosal out of vaccines. NOT ALL!
The CDC can’t solve a problem they helped start. It’s too risky to admit they have been wrong about mercury/thimerasol. They are corrupt.

The thing is, many of the vaccines that these children get don't even have mercury in them - it was erradicated years ago! Besides, many health officials agree that mercury is not as damaging as some of these diseases could be. Jim is really barking up the wrong tree here.
