According to Mirror.co.uk's Katie Hind, Garrard treated Galaxy fans to 500 bottles of beer during the pre-match tailgate parties prior to the match against Toronto FC.
Hind obtained a statement from Gerrard released by the Galaxy:
"Supporters are the lifeblood of any club and I know that with your support we'll challenge for the MLS Cup again.
"As a token of appreciation for what you do for the club, I wanted to provide you with some refreshments for the 4th of July. I look forward to meeting you at tonight's match."
Galaxy president Chris Klein introduced Garrard to the appreciative StubHub Center crowd on Saturday, per Hind.
Gerrard returned the compliment from a box seat, where he was accompanied by his wife, Alex, per Mirror Online:
"Thank you for making myself and my family feel at home in L.A. It feels great to be here, I'm excited and I can't wait to get my boots on and play.
"And hopefully we can have some good times together. Happy 4th of July."
Los Angeles shut out Toronto, 4-0, behind a hat trick from Robbie Keane. Sebastian Lletget scored the other goal for the Galaxy, per Hind.
The Mirror Online update says Gerrard will start training with the Galaxy on July 7 in preparation for his Major League Soccer debut with the club 10 days later against the San Jose Earthquakes.
When Gerrard agreed to terms with Los Angeles on Jan. 7, he told BBC Sport he was very excited about the opportunity:
"I'm very excited to begin the next chapter of my career in the United States.
"The Galaxy are the most successful club in MLS history and I'm looking forward to competing for more championships in the years to come.
"One of the reasons I chose them was because of the success they've had recently. I want to add some medals and trophies to my collection."
Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena raved about Gerrard's addition, per BBC Sport:
"We're very pleased to acquire a player of Steven's caliber, experience and character.
"He is one of the most decorated players in the world and will join our team with a wealth of success playing at the highest level of the sport.
"Steven will be an excellent example to our young players and we're excited to add him and his leadership to an already-talented roster."
Prior to commiting to the Galaxy, Gerrard spent 17 seasons with Premiere League club Liverpool. He also recorded 114 international appearances for England with his 2014 World Cup stint in Brazil as his last, per Goal.com's Marc Lancaster.
