  • Microsoft releases newly redesigned Bing Maps!

The Bing Maps redesigned by Microsoft put more emphasis on travel then routes!

Microsoft recently released a preview of its redesigned Bing Maps today. Even though Microsoft had sold off most of its mapping assets to Uber last week, it showed it is still taking the Bing maps seriously.

The exciting part about the new Bing Map is that it shows more options for travel planning on the map rather than simply provide directions to routes. People now use their smartphones to get directions therefore the Bing maps may prove successful in planning vacations.

Bing Maps had always been under-appreciated due to the presence of other major competitors such as Google Maps, however the new innovative feature by Microsoft may prove to be more successful. Microsoft has also been launching other features on its other apps which shows the company is reinventing its services.

The Bing Maps has another useful feature that is it remembers your searches. The searches are organised in the form of cards, so you can go back and forth from your last to your recent searches. The searches are also kept plotted on the map so it is easier to locate the searches within the vicinity of each other.

Additionally the Bing Maps will also predict whether it is the right time for you to leave for your trip at a certain place you are researching. Bing Maps will also predict the traffic situation based on historical traffic data at any certain time.

Bing maps will especially highlight places such as hotels, restaurants and gas stations on any route, which could prove to be a very useful feature since it is missing in Google Maps. The Bing Maps will also show the streets in a street side view at the bottom of the map.
