The future prospects of the Olbermann Show seem to be dim. A statement by the execs at ESPN shows that Keith Olbermann who used to head the show is leaving the platform for greener pastures.
The brief statement sent out by the top bosses at ESPN addressed Keith who was hosting the Olbermann Show. It stated very clearly and concisely that he was a resource and a highly talented individual who was an institution in himself. They acknowledged that he had entertained and amused so many by his skillful handling of the show and ought to be congratulated on a job well done.

The few words that got written further stated that Keith had done a high quality program that had really pulled in audiences, but now it was time to fold the cards and leave the table.
Everything was amicably settled and Keith would go towards a rosier career in some other venture out there in the real world. Keith Olbermann had made a detour back to ESPN about 700 days ago to host a show that went into the wee hours of the morning. Later on the timings of the show were shifted to the afternoon. But now Keith was leaving for good.
“Keith is a tremendous talent who has consistently done timely, entertaining and thought-provoking work since returning to ESPN. While the show’s content was distinctive and extremely high quality, we ultimately made a business decision to move in another direction. We wish Keith nothing but the best and trust that his skill and ability will lead him to another promising endeavor,” ESPN said in its statement.
The news was leaked on Twitter. The head honchos at ESPN had announced the parting as a business choice. Another highly famous gentleman named Bill Simmons also did not have his contract renewed this year.
And while the popularity ratings of the show were at an all time high, this strange decision to can the whole plan seems rather quirky and eccentric even by ESPN’s standards. The fact that it had to come to this is a very weird thing that lies beyond the understanding of so many.
It appears to be the case that the whole bone of contention was over Keith’s commentary style. Where Keith will go from here is anybody’s lucky guess. He has literally left his comfort zone far behind and is venturing into the territory of sweet and dangerous freedom. And it is this sense of insecurity in which he must precisely find the security he seeks so badly.
