BBC's Sherlock is set in the modern era and has been hugely popular since its debut. For the Christmas BBC decided to take the story back into the original Victorian Era and feature a one-time special episode.
The news that the episode will feature Sherlock and Watson in the Victorian Era first came out in March when they were seen shooting in top hats. BBC has still not revealed when the episode will air exactly, but Steven Moffat the co-creator of the show called it an historical adventure which will be a standalone from the series.
The clip does not reveal anything from the plot of the Christmas special. It shows Sherlock and Dr. Watson arrive at the Baker Street home in a carriage. Mrs. Hudson welcomes them. The sneak peek is just about the time travel of Sherlock to its original Victorian time setting.
A third season of the BBC show Sherlock is expected to return soon with three additional episodes, but the Christmas special will be its own things with a completely different storyline.
Benedict Cumberbatch is an incredible Sherlock Holmes and the chemistry with Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson is perfect. The Christmas special will be a huge TV event, but fans are longing for a new season of Sherlock.
