Affleck will not only star as Batman in the film but he will also help in writing and directing the film. Deadline sources have confirmed Affleck will team up with Geoff Johns to write the script of the standalone Batman film. Geoff Johns is the chief creative officer for DC Entertainment and already an acclaimed comic scribe.
However the standalone Batman film may be a long way in coming. The film is planned to take place after the events in the film ‘The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and even after the events of Justice League, which is slated for release in 2017. Justice League is a upcoming project in which all the DC heroes will unite on the big screen.
Ben Affleck is expected to fill some pretty big shoes when it comes to Batman, as he has taken over the role from Christian Bale, who portrayed the Dark Knight in the acclaimed Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, considered the best ever.
Geoff Johns has previously helped Warner Bros. in producing successful TV series based on the DC comic superheroes, such as the The Flash, Arrow, Superman in Smallville, and the much anticipated new series Supergirl.
When Warner Bros. was asked for a comment they did not deny or confirm the news about Affleck’s standalone Batman film.
