“Orange is the New Black” star Ruby Rose always seems ready to talk about on the subject of gender identity.

In her recent interview with Access Hollywood, she shared some of her vivid memories related to gender transition. She was even saving money for a gender transition surgery when she was a child.

“When I was younger, for sure. I had this jar that I would collect dollars. In fact, we were so poor it would’ve been cents. So I probably had 19 cents to go towards this surgery that I really didn’t know a lot about. I think I’d seen a day time documentary, or probably something on Oprah. I was like, that’s what I’m going to do. So I started saving from probably the age of five,” Ruby said.

“When I got to 15 was when I started to get more into my body and I shaved my head. I started to change the way that I dressed and talked and realized that I didn’t want to transition, I just wanted to be more comfortable under my own skin.”

The Australian born model is often compared to many Hollywood celebrities especially Justin Bieber, Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio., what she herself had to say about it.

“It’s so strange because I love Justin, I love Angelina, and I really love Leo, but none of those three people look the same.” Nevertheless, she thinks that she dressed up more like Justin Bieber and her face resembles more to Angelina, she hopes so.

Ruby wanted to befriend Taylor Swift because she likes her obsessively.

“I’m obsessed with Taylor Swift. I want her to be my best. I think I’ve said this so much that she probably has a restraining order on me.”

Ruby Rose came out at the age of 12. She was having relationships with a number of personalities from entertainment industry including actress Jessica Origliasso and Catherina McNeil but currently she is engaged to Phoebe Dhal, granddaughter of author Ronald Dahl.

She described herself as a gender fluid, “I’m not a guy; I don’t really feel like a woman, but obviously I was born one. So, I’m somewhere in the middle, which – in my perfect imagination – is like having the best of both sexes.”
