Apple Incorporated and Samsung Electronics will most likely combine forces to make the SIM card redundant. At least, that is the most visible outcome of their recent collaboration.
The so-called SIM card may just be thrown off into the void that is oblivion. Apple and Samsung are holding parleys that might result in the transfer to a new form of SIM that will make it easier to shift between service providers. And it is not just any ordinary SIM we are talking about. It is an embedded SIM or e-SIM. This is something altogether new in its makeup.

This funky little critter of science and technology will allow customers to change carriers without having to go through the hassles of obtaining a new card. Some things work so fine that everything seems to dovetail around them.
Now there is no more need to get bogged down in the details. The shuffling of SIMs is going to be a thing of the past and all the consumers can say is good riddance to bad rubbish! The novel interface implanted within the contraption will allow access to the deed on a real-time basis.
However, it will take within a year or so to consummate the radical transformation. Apple has made the right choice and Samsung too seems to have made the perfect decision. In 2014, Apple introduced LTE iPads and also showcased the Apple SIM.
This caused a surge of excitement among consumers since it offered a cornucopia of choices unlike in erstwhile times. Furthermore, this doing away with clumsy SIM cards will let Apple manufacture even slimmer, sleeker and smoother devices.
This is a dream of the tech giant and one that it is set on fulfilling at all costs. However, the Apple SIM is not about to go the way of the dinosaurs in a matter of months. It will take its time to dematerialize.
As for the GSM Association, it has given its tacit consent to the whole project. The e-SIMs are most welcome on board the enterprise. Among the carriers that are in the know may be included: AT&T, Duetsche Telekom, Vodafone, Telefonica and Orange. Apple and Samsung have literally combined the best of East and West.
Meanwhile, the future is a precarious entity that is at best approached with trepidation and baby steps. It might pan out and it might not. It all depends upon luck and serendipity.
