The World Wrestling Entertainment has confirmed the wrestling championed died of a heart attack.
Today the World Wrestling Entertainment announced "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has passed away. Piper was 61 years old at the time of his death. The pro wrestler was an official member of the WWE Hall of Fame.

Piper passed away at his home in Hollywood, California. Piper apparently suffered a heart attack in his sleep. The incident occurred on Thursday night. The wrestler was then discovered on Friday.
Piper was also known by the name ‘Hot Rod’. The name was adopted after his shirts were seen blazoned with it. Previously Piper had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2006. But last year in the fall Piper announced he was cancer free.
Piper started his wrestling career back in 1984. At the time Piper was considered one of the most hated villains. As a wrestler Piper won the titles of Intercontinental Champion, World Tag Team Champion and the WCW U.S. Champion.
Piper was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, according to NYTimes.
Piper was also famous for having acted in Hollywood films. Piper’s most famous role to date was in ‘They Live’. ‘They Live’ was a 1988 sci-fi cult film directed by John Carpenter.
After news of Piper’s death broke out his son Colt Toombs expressed his grief on Twitter. In the tweet Toombs called his father a great man and his best friend.

Toombs further stated he will try to be the man Piper raised him to be. Hulk Hogan also took to twitter to express his condolences. Hulk and Piper had been competitors for years in the ring. Hulk called Piper his brother in the tweet and sent his love to Piper’s family.
