iPhone 6C rumored for Q2 2016

The colorful 4-inch iPhone 6C is reportedly coming in Q2 of 2016.

Apple did not update the low-end iPhone 5C last year. Many believed that Apple will release a new iPhone 6C with a 4-inch screen this fall. A while ago reports surfaced that Apple has scraped plans to release the iPhone 6C this year.

A new Digitimes report from the Asian supply chain says that Apple plans to release the iPhone 6C in Q2 of 2016. The new iPhone 6C would have chipsets made with the new 14/16nm FinFET technology manufactured by Samsung and TSMC. The new chip technology lowers power consumption.

Yesterday an image of an iPhone battery surfaced that could fit the iPhone 6C.

There is demand for an 4-inch iPhone, but it needs to have up-to-date specifications. It looks like consumers have to wait for a small new iPhone until next year.

Apple apparently does not want to have the 6C disturb the launch of the iPhone 6S. The new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are already in production and will be unveiled likely on September 8. The details of the iPhone 6S are already pretty much known. There will be no big surprise.

It could be a smart move for Apple to release a new iPhone in the second quarter. This is the usual launch time frame of the Samsung Galaxy S flagship phones. A new iPhone, even low-end always takes away a lot of attention and mindshare.
