  • Streaming Xbox One-Windows 10 has a secret 'Very High Quality' option!

In addition to the three streaming options Xbox on Windows has a hidden quality option.

Only last month Windows 10 was launched. Back then we saw Windows 10 had a lot of perks. One of those perks included the streaming link from Xbox One to the Windows 10 PC. Normally the Xbox console offers three quality setting. The settings are low, medium and high. But the streaming of the Xbox One to the Windows 10 has another hidden quality option.

According to a Reddit user another quality setting can be availed from the streaming. A ‘very High Quality’ option is hidden in the system. The news was posted by the Reddit user OomaThurmann'.

The setting can be activated by altering the configuration files. After altering the configuration files the ‘Very High Quality’ setting is available on the Xbox to Windows streaming.

Specifically the userconsoledata file in the Xbox app needs to be changed in Windows 10. The file can be found in the Xbox folder. In the file IsInternalPreview needs to be addressed. In the file there are two options. The option need to be changed from ‘False’ to ‘True’.

The tag name of the file suggests it is some sort of a feature in its early testing phase. The new ‘Very High Quality’ could have been activated by Xbox later as an update. But it seems the Reddit users beat Microsoft to the punch.

The Digital Foundry was one of the first to test the new setting. According to the Digital foundry the new setting has a full 1080p display. There is also a marked increase in bandwidth. Consistently 18 mbps are used. If users wish to make use of the new ‘Very High Quality’ setting they need a very fast network.
